"Daufuskie
Island is three miles wide and five miles long. Its boundaries
are the Atlantic, Calibogue
Sound, and the Cooper, New and Mongin Rivers. It has five major
plantations: Haig Point, the Daufuskie Island Club and Resort
(consisting of Melrose and Bloody Point) and the Webb and Oak Ridge
plantations; and, the Historic District.

Haig
Point is a luxurious residential community, with villas and homes,
a beautiful club house, 27 hole golf course, eight teneco tennis
courts, a beach club,
croquet and equestrian facilities. It is owned by its members and managed
by Troon Management.
The
Daufuskie Island Club is more of a resort with residential amenities.
Melrose and Bloody Point each have villas and homes, separate club
houses, an 18 hole golf course, teneco tennis courts and all of
the other recreational amenities of Haig Point. In addition Melrose
has an Inn/Hotel, a convention center and is planning a marina.
It is owned and operated by Tiburon Development.

The
Webb track is presently undeveloped. The Oak Ridge track is a residential
subdivision with the land improved by roads and public utilities.
Lots on or in close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean are now being
marketed.
Daufuskie
resembles Hilton Head fifty years ago, and the Historic District
appears to many that they have been sent back 100 years in time
when they tour that part
of the island"
